Elinor Glyn
1864 – 1943
Elinor Glyn was a British novelist and scriptwriter who’s romantic fiction was considered scandalous for its time. She popularized the concept of the ‘it girl’, and had tremendous influence on early 20th-century popular culture and the careers of notable Hollywood stars such as Rudolph Valentino, and Gloria Swanson.
She was known to have had affairs with several high-ranking politicians and British aristocrats, the experiences of which were reflected in several of her novels.
